Engage an editor! Pitch a story! Workshop your work!
Twin Cities Runoff is experimenting with a new style of public editorial meeting. Our very talented editors– Deborah Carver, Colleen Powers, Jake Mohan, and Susan Woehrle–are partnering with Twin Cities literary venues every month to meet writers, talk about stories and submissions, and talk editorial schedules– and whether you’d like to be on them.
We’re inviting interested local writers to come and chat with us about writing, art, local news, whatever. Bring your ideas for Twin Cities Runoff-style feature stories, even if you’re not sure how to write them. Show off snippets of what you’ve already written, and workshop them into publishable work. Make this something different than any editorial process you’ve ever experienced. Put a little camaraderie into the staid, stiff world of publishing– making something is about relationships and building a movement as much as it is about art and craft and whateverhaveyou.
And, of course, we’d love to talk about other kinds of storytelling besides writing– so if you’re interested in illustration, photography, and any other kind of visual art, we’re interested in chatting with you, too.
We can discuss the complexity of the comma, the genius of Capote, or the legacy of the Twin Cities Reader: you decide. Come out and help us make a magazine with an Open Shop.
